On
Friday, December 22 children from Free Town and its environs were feted by the
Free Town Church of God of Prophecy Outreach Foundation.
Now
in its 14th year, the team went all out to ensure the children had a
great time.
Faced
with many challenges this year including very little sponsorship with some of
its ‘regular’ being unable to come on board it was a welcome relief when Custos
of Clarendon William ‘Billy’ Shagoury stepped in and ensured that the day ended
with each child receiving a toy.
“It
was truly hard, at one point we would have gotten discouraged as we were faced
with so many “unfortunately we cannot sponsor this event” that we even wondered
if we would made it,” said Zebulah Aiken pastor and director of the foundation.
She
is, however thanking God for faithful such as the Turners – Anthony and Althea
who year after ensure they send ‘barrels of goodies’ for the children.
“It
was late in coming this year, but it simply means they children are in for even
more treat,” she said happy the Custos was able to fill the gap.
This
year the children also received additional support through the Gerdine Graham
Foundation out of Canada as well as Andrea Bullens who have also sent barrels
for the children.
“I
am truly overwhelmed, there are not enough words to say how thankful I am,” she
said.
Heartfelt
thanks to everyone who ‘put in the basket’ to make the treat a great
success…thank you all!
