The kids from the Miracle Tabernacle Free Town Church of God of Prophecy located in Free Town, Clarendon, about 5 miles from Old Harbor will have a big reason to celebrate this Christmas, thanks to gifts they will receive from Jamaicans living in the New York area. With generous donations from Cebert Walters, president of the Vere Tech Alumni Association, NY chapter; Mike Williams from the Eye Collection; singer Elvis D; Bob Desouza from Trans Continental Shippers; Andrea Bullens, Bullzi Marketing; Henry and Hermine Spence; Jacqueline Bennett, Images Newsletter and Santa helpers, Althea, Aaliyah and D'Andre Turner, I was able to go shopping on Black Friday and find some real bargains, enough to put together two jumbo barrels of goodies that were shipped to Jamaica. The goodies will arrive in Kingston, just in time for the December 31 treat for the kids. Last year over 150 kids turned out for the event. This year, over 200 kids are expected for the annual shindig which celebrates its 7th anniversary. Jamaicans in the NY area were not the only ones contributing, as I am told reggae singer Steele from Canada and Myshjua Archibald from Miami also sent barrels to Jamaica as well.
